Title:

[California and Oregon promotional photomontages]

Creator/Contributor:

Tibbitts, H. C., creator, photographer.

Abstract:

California scenic montages composed of multiple rectangular and circular photographic views arranged along with identifying text, and re-photographed to create single photographic prints. Presumably these were created for reproduction in a print promotional publication, possibly by Sunset Magazine or the Southern Pacific Railroad, for which Tibbitts photographed over several decades. Subjects are 1: The old missions of California -- 2: [a bee ranch in Ventura, artesian well in Pomona, and a Spanish bayonet plant (yucca)] -- 3: Snow balls and roses, three miles apart, in California -- 4: [Yosemite: El Capitan and Half Dome] -- 5: Crossing the Sierras via the Ogden Route -- 6: [Glen Alpine country, near Lake Tahoe] -- 7: Gilmore's Glen Alpine Springs [and vicinity] -- 8: [Mount Tallac and vicinity] -- 9: Fallen Leaf Lake and Mt. Tallac -- 10: [Lake Tahoe, Cascade Lake, and White Cloud Falls] -- 11: The California Geysers -- 12: The Klammath Hot Springs and surroundings -- 13: On the "Big Bend" of the Shasta Route -- 14: [Mount Shasta, Sissons, and vicinity] -- 15: On the road to Crater Lake [including Rogue River, Oregon and region] -- 16: Crater Lake, on the summit of the Cascade Mts
